The Adventures of Tintin, 1929

Way before The Adventures of Tintin graced the silver screen in 2011, it was a popular comic or bande-dessinee in Europe.

The series was first published today in 1929 by Belgian artist Georges Remi who wrote under the pen name of Hergé. The series centers around Tintin, a young Belgian reporter and his canine sidekick Snowy ( or Milou).

The original Tintin.

While it is still widely known in Europe (and beloved by my French teacher), the publication of Les Aventures de Tintin ceased in 1976.

  1. I love the “Tintin” book series and have read all. I was quite impressed with Spielberg’s film too! It’s sad that the “Tintin” franchise is not popular in America.
