Lucretia Mott Is Born, 1793

The world has never yet seen a truly great and virtuous nation, because in the degradation of women, the very fountains of life are poisoned at their source.

In 1793, Lucretia Mott- a Quaker, abolitionist, women’s rights activist, and religious reformer- was born in Nantucket, Massachusetts. She is well-known for her involvement in the Seneca Falls Convention in New York (1948) and her  Discourse on Women (1950).

If our principles are right, why should we be cowards?
